Lockdown 2.0

November 5th arrived but it certainly wasn’t the same as in previous years … no big bonfires and no organised fireworks. Hopefully, you managed to celebrate Guy Fawkes night in some manner or maybe you are waiting for the weekend.

Yesterday, I highlighted on my IG account (@susanmckaywellness) that although we have been here before, this time is different. The rules have changed and of course the seasons. The days are shorter (thank you daylight savings), it’s colder (or it should be) and we can’t meet up in our gardens with a certain number of friends… bye to coffee and chats.

Or is it? I am a great believer in finding solutions and not always looking at the problems. Yes, I also know that’s easier said than done.

So, here are a few quick tips to help you get through the next 27 days (26 as I write this).

  1. Stay in touch with people – even if it’s a quick phone conversation or a zoom call, take the time to say hi to friends.
  2. Create a plan for the week – plan it out around the school runs.
  3. Workout – the gyms might be closed but there is MUCH to be said about getting out in nature.
  4. News – it’s easy to get bogged down in the news (the touch of a button and you have it instantly), so take some time away from your screen.
  5. Find time for you – meditation may not be high on your daily list, but it does work and there are plenty on youtube etc.
  6. Find a hobby – pick up something new or see if you can find something to challenge yourself during the month of November.

These are just a few ideas to get you started. In my mind, the biggest and greatest thing we have is the power of communication. USE IT!
