Thinking back to last week’s blog post regarding consistency and motivation, I wanted to focus on the first one today.
Consistency, I think has more emphasis than motivation. You can be motivated but unless you are repeatedly doing something day in, day out, I do not think you will see results.
Many of us have been on the ‘diet’. We are on a diet because we are overweight (or think we are) and then restrict ourselves from eating certain foods. Let’s face it, there are numerous diets out there and who knows which is best for you. I’ve done them … I know the results. I lose the weight, I feel amazing, get compliments, have a weekend off, which turns to a week, which in turn is a month and before you know it I’m off completely. The result … the weight goes back on (and some), I feel miserable and we are back to that vicious circle. Diet starts … You get the picture?
Another factor in this diet business is that we want the weight to shift FAST. By fast, I mean overnight. Sorry sunshine it just doesn’t happen that way. The faster you lose weight, the faster you will put it back on. (These are my words and I know, it might not be true for everyone). It’s taken TIME for you to put on the weight, therefore if you are slow and consistent and use TIME to your advantage, the fact of the matter is that you are going to lose weight. Losing a little over TIME, CONSISTENTLY is, in my humble opinion, the key.
When it comes to achieving goals whatever they are – financial, personal, promotion, nutrition – the one thing that’s important and key is CONSISTENCY and TIME. I’ve highlighted these words because I feel that they are so critical. Consistency to me is about forming habits. We can choose to form bad habits (normally the easier of the two) or we can pick the one good ones – more often than not, they are hard and we want to give up.
If you want to be successful, the key is not giving up. Find the motivation to be consistent. Take it slowly. Use a tool to help you. If you are looking to lose weight … take a photo and then take a photo at certain point, then again. Spread the time out evenly. When it comes to weight, results don’t always happen on the scale.
I’ve just read this over and there is a lot of info here. One of the major things you can do is to find your tribe. Find someone you can work with – it could ME – yes, I am plugging myself here. Work on your goals together. Check in. Repeated daily actions are going to bring results. I am here to cheer you on. It will take TIME but you have got this. Set your goals, find your tribe and make it happen.
If you would more information about my FREE workshops OR would like to work in my monthly virtual gym (YES, you don’t have to leave home) and create a nutrition plan (not a diet), do get in touch. It might be the best step you take.
Have a brilliant day!
